Budget
What a wedding in Mendoza costs
There is no single price. There are variables, published market ranges, and a list of items that almost always sits outside a venue quote.
Argentine sector press published in 2024 an average range of USD 15,000 to 25,000 for a winery reception in Mendoza, and Valle de Uco venues advertise packages from approximately USD 13,000 for 50 guests. Those figures cover the event only. They do not include accommodation, flights, floral design, photography, technical production, guest transport or the side events that make up a wedding weekend.
The number moves on four variables — guest count, season, days of programming, and how much of the group stays together — and contracts are written in US dollars. This page publishes the ranges with their source and date, lists the eight items that usually fall outside a venue quote, and sets out a method for comparing two proposals without deceiving yourself.

Published market ranges
Reference figures collected from public sources. They are not a commercial proposal from any venue, and every wedding still has to be quoted case by case.

What actually moves the number
Any serious proposal in Mendoza is built on a small set of variables. If a quote you have received does not make all of them explicit, it is incomplete, and the difference shows up later rather than never.
1. Guest count
The dominant variable. It drives catering, drink, furniture, structure, staffing, transport and rooms simultaneously — which is why a headcount that moves by twenty people is not a twenty-person adjustment to one line but a re-pricing of six. The 50 to 120 band is where this format works best. Above it, moving people between the city and the valley starts to require coach operations and erodes the intimacy that motivated the destination in the first place.
2. Season
High season runs October to April, and November is the most contested month in the market. Harvest — February to April — concentrates wedding demand and wine tourism at the same time, which puts pressure on hotel rates and on supplier availability rather than only on the venue. May and September are the window with the best relationship between landscape and commercial conditions, for couples willing to accept cold. The monthly temperature figures behind that are in weather and harvest.
3. Days of programming
A one-day wedding and a four-day wedding weekend are different economic products. Each extra day adds an event — welcome dinner, winery experience, farewell brunch — but the hotel nights around it are ones guests were already paying for. In practice, extending from two days to three raises the couple’s cost proportionally less than it raises what guests feel they received. How a full programme is normally assembled is described on the wedding weekend page.
4. How much of the group stays together
This is the variable people from outside the region do not anticipate. If the group is spread across eight hotels in the city and the wedding is in Valle de Uco — 87 km, about an hour — transport becomes a multi-vehicle operation with several pick-up points and a long tail at the end of the night. If most of the group sleeps in one or two properties, it becomes a single schedule. Mendoza has more than 350 rooms across the Sheraton Mendoza, Huentala Hotel and Hualta Winery Hotel (Curio Collection by Hilton), which is what makes concentrating a group of this size feasible. Options are set out on the accommodation page.
And one amplitude factor: food and wine
In a wine region this is the line with the widest internal range. The distance between a correct menu and a signature one, or between a winery’s entry list and its top labels, can move the total materially without a single other decision changing. It is worth pricing as a deliberate choice rather than discovering it inside a total. What that involves is covered on food and wine.
Scope
Inside and outside a typical venue quote
This is where budgets built from abroad overrun. Published venue ranges cover space, catering and drink. Eight further items normally have to be bought separately.
| Item | In a typical quote | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The space itself | Usually inside | Exclusive use for the agreed hours. Confirm what happens to the hours before and after — set-up and strike are often quoted separately. |
| Catering and service staff | Usually inside | The largest single line. The gap between a competent menu and a signature one is the widest price range in a wine region. |
| Wine and bar | Usually inside | Check which tier of the winery’s own list is included, and what an upgrade costs per person. |
| Tables, chairs, linen, basic tableware | Often inside | Included at house standard. Anything specified by a designer is normally a separate rental. |
| Floral design and styling | Outside | Frequently the second largest item after catering, and the one most often absent from a first quote. |
| Sound, lighting and technical production | Outside | Including a generator when the reception is in an open field or vineyard away from the building. |
| Photography and video | Outside | Add flights and accommodation if the team travels with you rather than being hired locally. |
| Guest transport | Outside | Hotels to venue and back, both directions, with schedule margin. Its weight depends entirely on the sub-region. |
| Ceremony coordination and planning | Sometimes inside | Some venues keep their own coordination team; others expect an external planner. This is a question, not an assumption. |
| Accommodation for the couple and immediate family | Outside | Guests pay their own. The couple and close family are the exception most budgets forget to include. |
| Side events | Outside | Welcome dinner, winery experience, farewell brunch. Each is a separate event with its own catering and staffing. |
| The weather plan B | Outside, if it needs structure | A covered room already on site costs nothing extra. A marquee held on standby has its own price, and it is charged whether or not it rains. |
Generalised from how winery venues in Mendoza structure their proposals, reviewed 2026-08-01. It is a checklist for reading a quote, not a statement about any particular venue: some estates include coordination and a covered backup as standard, others include neither. The point is that the answer should be in writing.
How to compare two proposals without deceiving yourself
Compare scopes, not totals. A more expensive proposal that includes coordination, a covered backup and transport can end up cheaper than a lean one that pushes six items outside. The method is unglamorous and it works:
- List the twelve items in the table above in one column.
- For each proposal, mark every item as included, coordinated by the venue or your responsibility.
- Get a separate quote for everything marked as yours.
- Only then add the columns up.
Venues that run their own hotels and kitchens tend to concentrate more items in the included column. That reduces the number of contracts, suppliers and points of failure, and it frequently shows up in the final total even when the headline figure for the space looks higher.
A note on currency and exchange rates
Argentina has a long history of currency volatility and peso inflation. Contracts written in US dollars protect the couple from that, but they transfer a different exposure: the relationship between the dollar and the currency you actually earn in. With a wedding 12 to 18 months out, agree an instalment schedule with the venue and the exchange-rate policy applying to each instalment — in writing, before signing, not at the first payment.
The same applies to cancellation and postponement terms. They are read carefully by almost nobody at signature and by everybody at the moment they matter.

Budget questions couples ask
How much does a wedding at a winery in Mendoza cost?
Argentine sector press published in 2024 an average range of USD 15,000 to 25,000 for a winery reception. Packages advertised by Valle de Uco venues start at approximately USD 13,000 for 50 guests. Both figures describe the event only — they do not include accommodation, flights, floral design, photography or technical production, and they are market references rather than a quote from any specific venue.
What is not included in a venue quote?
Eight items usually sit outside: floral design and styling; sound, lighting and technical production, including a generator for open-air sites; photography and video; guest transport between hotels and venue; ceremony coordination, when the venue does not provide it; accommodation for the couple and immediate family; side events such as the welcome dinner and farewell brunch; and the weather plan B when it requires additional structure. A published range that appears low is frequently a range that pushes six of these eight outside the quote.
Is getting married in Mendoza cheaper than getting married at home?
Comparing totals is misleading because the guest list changes. A destination wedding in Mendoza typically runs 50 to 120 guests, against the 150 to 300 of a traditional wedding of the same standard. Cost per guest tends to be higher; the total is frequently lower. What genuinely changes is what is being bought: three or four days of experience rather than one evening.
Why do so few venues publish a fixed price?
Because the number depends on variables that only exist after a conversation: guest count, season, number of days of programming, how much of the group stays together, and how much of the production the venue already owns. A fixed price published without scope usually conceals exclusions. What is reasonable to demand is a detailed written proposal with inclusions and exclusions listed line by line.
What currency are contracts written in?
International wedding contracts in Mendoza are normally denominated in US dollars. Put the currency, the payment method, the exchange-rate policy applying to each instalment and the cancellation terms in writing before signing. With a wedding 12 to 18 months out, the instalment schedule is the clause that causes the most friction later.
Do guests pay for their own flights and hotels?
Yes — that is the settled practice for this format. Guests cover flights and accommodation; the couple covers the celebrations. Some couples subsidise part of the accommodation for immediate family or negotiate a group rate with a hotel, which is a different thing from paying for it. Whatever the arrangement, it belongs in the save the date, roughly a year out, with realistic cost ranges attached.
